Subject: Baseball & Brotherhood: Weekend of May 1-3; Alumni Baseball & LEAD Weekend
Brothers…
I hope all of you are doing well and the thoughts of Spring are upon you (as soon as we rid ourselves of this cold snap). I am reaching out to you to make you aware of something we are doing the weekend of May 1-3, 2026, this Spring, which is the weekend before GS Graduation and Mother’s Day. We are hosting a Spring Alumni Weekend to celebrate our anniversary, enjoy the brotherhood, watch some baseball, and help move the needle forward in our chapter. We are calling it Baseball & Brotherhood because we have a great baseball weekend, but with our brotherhood in mind, both our past & present. In the present, we have constructed a mega LEAD Session focused on preparing our collegiates for their careers after college. This a follow-up to our wildly successful Construction Management weekend we held last year. BTW: This is a creation of the Alumni Chapter Officers, Alumni Advisory Board, and House Corp. to help grow, strengthen, and solidify our collegiate chapter – keeping them a Rock Chapter!
Why are you getting this email? Well, first of all, we have your email and mobile # (stand by for text). Also, you’re on a short, but growing list of past & present leaders, volunteers, and advisors/mentors that we think about all the time and many of you have given of your time, talent, and/or treasure in the past. So, we want to invite you to participate in this special weekend that will focus around three main concepts: 1. Career Advancement for our collegiates; 2. Welcoming our Seniors into the Alumni Ranks; and 3. Georgia Southern Baseball on the YellaWood Deck (Private to Sigma Nu) where you can watch baseball, enjoy a cold beverage of your own, grab a burger or hot dog, and socialize/network with all of the alumni plus our collegiate members – hence Baseball & Brotherhood. The YellaWood Deck and the weekend have a flat fee, you can bring a cooler of your own beverages, and we can grill in the privacy of the deck/area. It doesn’t get any better than this, but it likely will be sunny & hot, which sounds good right now. Oh, and there may be golf too!
We are looking for facilitators and subject matter experts for our Career Advancement weekend with the primary day being Saturday, May 2. The categories we have listed and selected are due to the academic majors and career aspirations of our collegiate men with each area having 15-20+ student members (Construction is higher). Those career categories are: 1. Sales & Marketing; 2. Business & Business Information Systems; 3. Finance, Accounting, & Business Finance; 4. Construction Management & Engineering; and 5. General Studies & generic topics, so that everyone in the chapter has a place to go. We have taken the model from previous large panels and the Construction weekend then simplified it. We will start with a group session facilitated by a small group, then we will breakout into 3-5 groups to discuss specific areas of careers and industry Q&A, and then we will come back together to have a Large Group Panel Discussion w/Q&A with 5-8 alumni speakers. It is followed by networking & socializing at the game. We will have other activities, including possibly golf, throughout the weekend, but we currently not planning a big dinner Saturday night because after the day/game everyone will be worn out.
General Agenda:
10:00 am - Session 1: Group session on careers, internships, interviewing, and getting the best job.
11:00 am - Session 2: Breakout Sessions (3-5) by Major (above).
12:00 pm - Session 3: Group Panel Discussion/Q&A with 5-8 alumni that are business leaders.
1:45 pm - Session 4: Networking Social at the YellaWood Deck. All alumni/all collegiates.
Golf: On Friday, Saturday morning, Sunday, or all 3. We will figure this out.
This will do immeasurable good for the young men of our chapter and give them a head start/jumpstart on their careers. Based on feedback from previous facilitators they say they got as much out of it (if not more) than the young men and it was one of the best professional experiences they ever had. We will do this at either the Russell Student Union or the Performing Arts Center. We need you – we want you!
Please consider this and RSVP. If you cannot facilitate this weekend and can come to the game that is fine too. If you would consider in the future that is fine too. Fill out the RSVPs so we can see your interest and background. We are looking to make this an annual spring event for all the reason stated. There is more information on the website at: www.sigmanugsu.com/spring-abw.
