    Sigma Nu Brothers...

2009 and 2010 have been great years for Theta Kappa and all appearances are things are just getting better each day! Last Fall we had a superb rush with 31 candidates brought in, the week of homecoming the High Council approved our petition for re-chartering, we had a great homecoming in November, and then we followed it up in February with a great "Re-Chartering Weekend" initiating 29 new brothers.

This Fall we returned with 34 members, we only lose up to 6 during the year to graduation, and the results from Rush are showing we will end up with 18-20 new candidates (perhaps more), which is a superb accomplishment. We are planning to celebrate our 40th Anniversary at Homecoming and we are planning for over 150 of our alumni to return!

I ask each of you to consider attending Homecoming this fall, which is the weekend of Nov. 4-7. We have hotel rooms blocked and we have a great weekend planned - all we need is you and many more of your brothers to attend for 1, 2, 3, 4 days or more! I look forward to seeing you at Homecoming 2010!

  • Theta Kappa is back! While we continue our efforts to regain our charter, very positive things are happening on campus. We had a strong Fall 2009 Rush with 31 new candidates, which was #1 on GSU and double last years’ efforts. Our grades were 3.02 in Fall ‘08 and 2.87 in Spring ’09 both exceeding all men’s averages.

I would like to thank Tony Fair, Bill Geddy, and others for their tireless efforts on behalf of Theta Kappa in the years past as well as the current re-colonization process. A special thanks to alumnus Eric Moore for conducting a rush workshop before Fall ’09 rush and to J.J. Stewart, outgoing alumni commander, for his efforts in keeping us informed during the hiatus.

I look forward to seeing you this fall at Homecoming which coincides with our houses’ 20th anniversary and at our other alumni events. Keep posted for more details and a longer version of my alumni report on www.sigmanugsu.com.

    Sigma Nu Brothers...

What a great year of Theta Kappa at GSU. We have recovered our charter due to some great work by many people. We have bolstered the chapter numbers and established successful line of communication between the alumni support and the chapter.

As a result, Homecoming 2010 is slated to be the best one yet. I encourage all brothers, spouses, and families to attend this year. It takes an early commitment or the calendar becomes to full and another year goes by without reuniting with your brotherhood. Last year several of my pledge brothers made the effort to return after many years. We had a great time and we each committed to return this year.

Remember…. Living life, not life itself is the most important thing. I hope to see all of you at GSU for another great homecoming weekend.

  • I wanted to express the satisfaction I have found by reconnecting with my Sigma Nu past through homecoming and the current collegiate membership. I have truly enjoyed my time with this group of guys (some things do not change), as well as the alumni that made the effort to return for Homecoming 2008. I was disappointed to find only two brothers present from my time on campus.

I know we all have busy lives and great intentions. However, you will not regret making the effort to return for Homecoming 2009. I would truly like to see some of my collegiate brothers and spend some catching up. I am proud to say my son is a Sigma Nu at GSU! I would love for him to meet the brothers I had so much fun with.

I am asking all my brothers from the classes of 1980-84 to plan now and call to make reservations in Statesboro for Homecoming 2009!

If you take the time to commit now you can make it happen. I hope to see you there!!!!
